Want to know how my Peel-On Apple Butter happens? π€ Well, it starts with harvesting the organic McIntosh & Golden Delicious apples from the two trees in my front yard! ππ This year’s bounty yielded seven 5-gallon buckets worth! π³π
The second step in making my Peel-On Apple Butter is processing the apples. πππͺ As the name suggests, I leave the nutrient dense peel on the apples. π I core them, quarter them, and then food process them until they are about the consistency of applesauce. I add just enough sugar (it works out to about 4 teaspoons per 8 ounce jar) to give it some sweetness and a ton of spices! π I generally make two full crockpots at a time and it cooks for about 10 hours.π β¨οΈ
The third & final step in making my Peel-On Apple Butter is pressure canning. β¨οΈ This season, I canned over 100 jars! πππ Come to The Delaware County Community Market today for Local Saturday/Small Business Saturday & try a sample! π I’m selling 8 oz. & 16 oz. jars that would make great gifts this holiday season. π
